At the 2012 Annual Meeting of the Association for Documentary Editing (ADE), the University of Virginia Press was honored with a special Resolution of Appreciation for its “leadership, vision, and vital support in the field of documentary editing.” The resolution emphasized the Press’s decades-long commitments to the Papers projects of both George Washington and James Madison and the work of its electronic imprint, Rotunda, whose publications “serve as models for all other digital editions to follow.” The entire resolution may be viewed here. Former UVa Press director Penny Kaiserlian, who retired in June, was also honored with a Distinguished Service Award. (UVA Today posted this story on the ADE honors.)

Adventure after Temple 60

Award of Merit for Lost Communities
Terri Fisher and Kirsten Sparenborg’s Lost Communities has won the Award of Merit from the American Association for State and Local History. The Award of Merit is part of the AASLH’s Leadership in History Awards, the most prestigious recognition for achievement in the preservation and interpretation of state and local history.
