The University of Virginia Press is helping to lead the way in digital publishing in the humanities. In the mid-90's, the Press published two pioneering online reference works, Afro-American Sources in Virginia and the Guide to African-American Documentary Resources in North Carolina. Both publications remain widely used, and can be accessed from this site—see links below.

The Press's commitment to digital publishing continued with the establishment of the Electronic Imprint in 2001 and its series of publications known as Rotunda.

ROTUNDA

Rotunda was created for the publication of original digital scholarship along with newly digitized critical and documentary editions in the humanities and social sciences. The collection combines the originality, intellectual rigor, and scholarly value of traditional peer-reviewed university press publishing with thoughtful technological innovation designed for scholars and students.

Our publications are produced by the staff of the Electronic Imprint of the University of Virginia Press.
